Sarah rentre dans sa famille en Louisiane pour fêter Noël. Cette année, c'est le 50e anniversaire du concours de Mister et Miss Noël organisé par la ville. Il consiste à nommer tous les ans deux jeunes lycéens qui incarnent particulièrement les valeurs de Noël. La famille de Sarah a toujours été à l'honneur : ses grands-parents et sa mère avaient été nommés en leur temps, et elle aussi, avec son petit ami de l'époque, Luke.
